Klingt ja ganz gut-aber warum soll nur die Kinofassung von Abyss remasterd werden, wer schaut die denn noch ?

Aber das endlich "Die Zeitmaschiene"auf BD kommt, ist für mich die Nachricht des Jahres...hoffentlich kommt da auch ein deutscher Release.

In einem US Forum hat jemand schon seine ersten Seheindrücke festgehalten(enthällt aber Spoiler):


"The Abyss theatrical cut is airing in new form on Cinemax. I have some good news to report, this is the new 2.35:1 remastered version, looks AMAZING..crystal clear, sharp! From the noticeable "new" red on Lindsey's hair, to the shine on Bud's hands when he has the grease on his fingers retrieving his wedding ring..the detail is astonishing. The colors are more divided, and vibrant now.. the greens on the fluroscenet light sticks, and the purples.. There's much more noticeable fine detail as well..[BEGIN SPOILERS] The beads of sweat on Coffey when he starts losing it..the scene where Lindsey almost dies, there's much more to them..and the camera is looking down on her, from above, and they almost give up..so much color that wasn't there before..the red on her shirt and the gear, yellow shirt on Catfish, blue of the water..and her face is more pale now, much whiter, gives a more dramatic effect..the 2 mile trench Bud goes down to meet the aliens..much more violet/purple at the bottom.. it comes across as more blue on the VHS/DVD. [END SPOILERS]. I have to say, unless something was wrong with my receiver, this was broadcast in stereo, not 5.1. Also, it seemed the source was probably 2.35:1, but it was either cropped/zoomed to something close to 1.85:1. Overall its a brighter transfer, also retaining fine shadow detail. This looks like it could've been shot yesterday. I'm happy to report they didn't de-grain it either, and there's such depth to it. Very, very HD, in the full sense of the word. An interesting note..I was at an audience test screening for this in 1988 before it hit theaters, and I remember it quite well. That version was like a longer version of the director's cut. This looks as good as it did then, and probably alot better. Is this a reference transfer? Probably not, but it's the absolute best I've ever seen this movie. A great transfer. It's like watching it new again, for the first time. "

Die Blu-ray soll nun auch wieder einen starke Veränderung der Farbe haben.

Ob Cameron nun extra die Farben für das Release modernisiert hat um sie näher seiner persöhnlichen (2014)Version des Filmes zu bringen oder dies den Film endlich so zeigt wie er immer aussah weiß ich nicht. Sieht mir etwas nach Aliens aus.

On that note, he has some good news for fans who have been clamoring for a Blu-ray release of “The Abyss.”

“We’ve done a wet-gate 4K scan of the original negative, and it’s going to look insanely good,” Cameron said. “We’re going to do an authoring pass in the DI for Blu-ray and HDR at the same time.”

Das sind doch mal wirklich gute Nachrichten-vielleicht wird 2017 für den Backkatalog auch ein so gutes Jahr wie 2016-jedenfalls fängt es ja schonmal gut an.

Ja so sehe ich das auch und mich hatte diese Ankündigung von James Cameron nicht verwundert, denn ich hatte letztes Jahr schon einmal zu einem befreundeten Filmsammler gemeint. Das sowohl "The Abyss" und "True Lies" es sich so verhalten könnte, dass 20th Fox hier ein 4K Master macht und den Film gleich als UHD mit veröffentlicht. Das man nur noch deswegen warten muss. Bei "True Lies" wird nur die Frage sein, ob 20th Fox gleich 2 Kracher in einem Jahr bringt oder ob man mit einem Klassiker warten wird und diesen man erst 2018 bringt. Möglich ist alles, weil schließlich eine neue 4K Abtastung auch Geld kostet. Hauptsache endlich kommt "The Abyss".

Und wie immer bei diesen Ankündigungen glaub ich es erst wenn ich die BD in der Hand halte. 2017 ist ein dehnbarer Begriff auch wenn ich irgendwoe gelesen hatte dss es "early 2017" hieß. Trotzdem hält sich nach den früheren Pseudo Ankündigungen meine Begeisterung in Grenzen. :confused:

@Christian1982, naja dioe 4K Transfere existieren bereits, gab da schon Tv Ausstrahlungen. Aber vermutlich hat sich Cameron jetzt nochmals dran gemacht diese in HDR für die UHD BD zu bearbeiten. Klug wäre es für Fox beide Titel 2017 herauszuhauen, denn das neue Format muss noch gestärkt werden.

Die TV Ausstrahlungen sind meinem Kenntnisstand nach, aber nicht von einer 4K Abtastung.

klingt doch gut. Wäre schön wenn man in dem Zug auch True Lies veröffentlicht. Davon war leider nichts zu lesen.

Es bleibt schwer bei diesem Film bzw. den sog. "News" dazu, optimistisch zu bleiben ...

Dafür ist einfach zu viel und zu oft falsches oder voreiliges (sicher ohne böse Absicht) gepostet worden.

Aber immerhin mal wieder eine Erwähnung des Films und auch noch vom Meister selbst ...
Das werten wir mal als erfolgreiche Ausssicht. Insbesondere wenn es sich auch um den Extended Cut handelt ...
